CNDP has been commissioned to conduct the national Generative Artificial Intelligence and the Future of Work Deliberative Workshop by Dr. Baobao Zhang, Maxwell Dean Assistant Professor of the Politics of AI at the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs, Syracuse University. The GenAI Workshop is funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) through a CAREER Fellowship awarded to Dr. Zhang.
The GenAI & Future of Work Deliberative Workshop will explore public attitudes regarding generative artificial intelligence and the future of work in the U.S. The Workshop will inform Dr. Zhang’s ongoing research on artificial intelligence and public attitudes on the role of these technologies in society. The Participants’ Report will be publicly released and circulated among a broad range of stakeholders including Congressional members and staff, federal agency officials, technology industry representatives, advocacy groups and civil society, and academics.Â
The Workshop will include forty randomly selected U.S. residents. Participants will be tasked with learning and deliberating about how generative AI could impact workers in the short and long-term.Â
The event will convene virtually over six days in January and February 2026.
Participant selection: Volunteers were added to an applicant pool from which a panel of forty workshop participants and five alternates was randomly selected to join. These participants were randomly selected from across the U.S. to include a broadly representative mix of residents in terms of age, gender, race/ethnicity, educational attainment, employment status, political affiliation, and geographic distribution.
